Project 2 - “Ecce Homo Trilogy” - Excerpt
“Ecce Homo” or “Behold the Homo” is a collaborative and devised three-part film series using music produced and written by M the Myth and explores M the Myth’s descent into, and escape from, hell. “Ecce Homo” is Latin for “Behold the man” (John 19:5). These are the words Pontius Pilate speaks to Jesus Christ in the Vulgate translation of the Gospel of John. M challenges and queers the translation reclaiming the derogatory “Homo”. All films were art directed and edited by M the Myth. M costume designed “One Night” and co-choreographed with Tony Giroux as well as co-wrote the script with director Alan Smithee from TRASH FILMS. “Eye of the Storm” was co-written with director Alan Smithee as well as produced by M the Myth. “Prey” was also a collaborative effort between Choreographer Emily Jo and designer Paolo Raymondo from Paradox Vested Relics. The trilogy was filmed over the course of four years in New York City: “One Night” (2017) “Eye of the Storm” (2018) “Prey” (2020). As a queer messiah, M the Myth offers their mind, sexuality, gender, and soul to the devil in order to save themselves and humanity from the gender binary and becomes free through resurrection. “Prey” won the award for “Most Innovative Music Video” at the Wavy Awards in 2021 and was mentioned in Variety (https://variety.com/2021/music/news/divinity-roxx-lachi-wavy-awards-historically-excluded-talent-1235097033/).
